I'm back!

new book, new chapter, and a Kickstarter in two weeks

Hey guys!

It’s been a minute.

A quick life update: I finished my master’s last summer and my teaching gig is going great (I’m still coaching wrestling and running the video department), and family life is as loud and lovely as ever — Michelle, Andy, and Astro keep me grounded and busy.

Teaching video production has been a small creative joy between drafts: it keeps me honest about story structure, pacing, and how to frame a scene, and the students keep me on my toes.

The Mike and J.D. podcast is going on hiatus for a bit, which is good as it’s given more time to focus on getting back in the writing game.

Now the project I’ve been quietly working on for a long time is ready to share. In two weeks I’ll launch a Kickstarter for my new novella, Killing The Town — a 120‑page brutal, fast‑moving supernatural thriller set in the dying world of 1980s territorial pro wrestling. It’s equal parts grit and myth: washed‑up wrestlers, a collapsing territory in Calgary, and an ancient hunger that feeds on ambition and betrayal. Think small arenas, big egos, and a Wendigo that is less folklore and more moral reckoning.

This is the perfect bridge between Gaijin and The Books of Jericho.

Why Kickstarter? Because I want this launch to be an event — not just another ebook listing. The campaign will offer exclusive signed editions, a limited numbered hardcover, art prints, and a handful of collector bundles that won’t be available anywhere else. Your support will cover printing, professional design, and getting the book into real hands (and real mailboxes), and it allows me to deliver something tactile and memorable for readers who like to own physical books.
